Aspenall Energies (Delaware), LLC acquires a 21 MW wind project in Southern Minnesota
MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota — July 3, 2024
Aspenall Energies (Delaware), LLC (“Aspenall”) announced today its acquisition of a 21 MW operating wind energy project in Mountain Lake, Minnesota. This represents the fifth operating wind energy project in Aspenall’s portfolio, bringing the firm's total generation capacity above 100 MW.
The project began commercial operations in 2008 and supplies electricity via a power purchase agreement with Missouri River Energy Services. It comprises ten 2.1 MW S88 wind turbines manufactured by Suzlon Energy Ltd.
“We are excited to continue our growth trajectory and strengthen our relationships with local communities and landowners. This project has a demonstrated operating track record of providing clean power to Southwest Minnesota. We intend to continue that tradition,” said Patrick Smith, Director of Asset Management for Aspenall Energies. “Crossing the 100 MW threshold as a firm is an important milestone as our team looks to continue building a portfolio of leading mid-scale renewable projects.”
The project produces enough electricity to power the average needs of 8,228 U.S. households. “Aspenall is dedicated to building a portfolio of small to mid-scale renewable energy assets in the greater Midwest. These projects support local communities and aid in the greater energy transition while creating limited negative externalities. We are very excited to add Odin to our portfolio and continue our commitment to the sector,” said Raoul G Slavin Juliá, Managing Director of Aspenall.
